How Can I create Additional Fees?
Here are some Examples of Additional Fees:
A. Some states, such as Colorado, have a Mandatory "Bag Fee" that is required by law. This type of fee can be created in the Additional Fees area.
B. You may want to charge a Fee or possibly Mandatory "Tip" based on a Minimum Order Value, which is another type of fee to put in this area. (Shown below)
You can set up Additional Fees by following the steps below:
- Login to your account Admin
- Click Restaurant Manager in the top black bar.
- Under Restaurant Settings, click Restaurant Locations.
- Click on the blue bar labeled Edit/View Additional Details for this Location for the location you wish to set up an additional fee.
- Click on the Payment & Fee tab.
- Scroll down to "Additional Fee Options"
- Click on the "Create a New Fee" button.
You will then see the below screen
Here are the Steps to follow for the example: Create a required gratuity of 18% for a minimum order of $100 or more
Step 1: Change Internal Display Name to be > "Auto Gratuity"
(or what would work best for you)
Step 2: Select the checkbox for “Enable” (This will enables the Fee feature, so it must be checked to apply)
Step 3: [Optional] Select the checkbox for “This fee is taxable” (If you need tax to apply to the required fee)
Step 4: Select the checkbox for “Apply only when Minimum Order value is” input the minimum order amount that you would like to set. (For this example: $100.00)
Step 5: [Optional] UNCHECK the box (if needed): “Show this fee when fee amount is $0.00”
Step 6: [Optional] If you use a Default Tip amount, you may want to Select this checkbox to "Change default tip to $0.00 if this fee applies"
(Customers might not understand why it would look like you want them to pay two tips)
Step 7: REQUIRED: Select at least One Order Type in order for the fee to actually apply at checkout. To the right of "Applies to" Select One or more: Delivery, Pickup, Dine-In
Step 8: CLICK button “Add another option” (This is to add the actual fee)

Note: For a Required Fee %, you do NOT want to "Add another option" - you only want a single option to show and that will be required.
Step 9: Click the button in the lower right “Save Additional Fees"

To verify:
Proceed to the Customer Ordering interface and pretend to place an order that meets the needed requirements. You will need to proceed to checkout so that you can select an Order type, unless that is already pre-selected for your account.
The fee will only show after the Order type is selected at checkout (or if you have a default order type selected).
If you do NOT select "Change default tip to $0.00 if this fee applies", then the customer will still be required to interact with the Tip box at checkout. This is how it will look below:
